Public Comment on State Plan Revision

The Statewide Suicide Prevention Council is soliciting a final round of public comment on the update of the Alaska State Suicide Prevention Plan: FY2012-2017. The revised 5-year plan is scheduled to be released in January 2018 and will be in place through 2022.

The Council has been working to revise and update the state plan during its public meetings throughout 2017 as part of its statutory obligations. Due to the public feedback, and to continue to build on benchmarks achieved during the current plan cycle, the Council decided to revise the plan rather than create a new one. The Council is looking for public feedback of any final revisions of goals, strategies, indicators, resources, and/or language in the draft content. Any suggestions for additions, omissions, or changes to the draft language are welcomed. Final revisions will be decided at the Council’s quarterly meeting on January 10, 2018, and a final version of the plan will be released by the end of that month at a date to be determined at the meeting.

To view the revised content of the plan, please visit the Statewide Suicide Prevention Council webpage at http://dhss.alaska.gov/SuicidePrevention. Public comment can be submitted via email at eric.morrison@alaska.gov, by fax at (907) 465-4410, or by mail care of SSPC, 431 N. Franklin St. STE 204, Juneau, AK 99801.  The public comment period will close at end of business on December 30, 2017.
